Endeavour Schools (incorporating Endeavour Primary School and Endeavour Education Support Centre) are located in the southern Perth suburb of Port Kennedy approximately 10 km south of Rockingham (Western Australia). The community surroundings are attractive with a nature reserve to the south and golf courses and a resort further to the west and the beach nearby.
Endeavour Schools were the first 'Low Allergen' Schools to be built in West Australia. Modifications to the building and landscaping plan ensure that wind born pollens and dusts are significantly reduced. Special features include - vinyl flooring, ducted vacuum system, overhead radiant heating, white boards and modified landscape planting. The schools are also designated as an 'Asthma Friendly' School.
Teachers work collaboratively in learning teams to integrate children with special educational needs who attend the Education Support Centre with classes in the mainstream school, and also students in the Primary School with specific learning needs who can benefit from the specialised teaching programs in the ESC where appropriate. Such programs are developed collaboratively with parents, carers, and a range of professionals to ensure continuity across the curriculum and year levels.
Endeavour Schools are still relatively new and are developing traditions and established patterns of behaviour as a bedrock for the schools ethos. Values Education across all eight Learning Areas is embedded into school planning and as such, there is great scope for innovation and creative thought that may lead to better ways of catering for the needs of all students. The teaching and learning program of the schools are based upon the following principles:
